A charitable Daniel Thwaites Licensee is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Ian Gee, licensee of the Stork Hotel at Simonstone, Lancashire, has signed up to compete in the Czechwrecks Banger Rally from 28-31 August, travelling a distance of 1,500 miles from Calais to Prague in ‘Car 82 Stalk Hotel’. Rules stipulate that the vehicles cost no more than £150.
The rally will take Ian and two friends, Phil and Kevin, on a scenic journey through France, spending an evening in the beautiful town of Interlaken in the heart of Switzerland, then crossing over the Simplonpass, and heading onto Bormio, Italy, at the foot of the infamous Stelviopass. The event continues on past the submerged town of Reiser and then on into Austria for a stopover in the heart of historic Salzberg. The final day will see the teams crossing into the Czech Republic and heading to the ‘Golden city of Prague’ over the back roads taking in the Bohemian countryside.
Challenges will be set over the four days and the Team that manages to acquire the most points over the 4 days of hard driving and off-the-wall challenges gets £1000 in cash, the team in second place will receive £350 and the third place team receives £150.
Ian, who has been the licensee at the Stork Hotel for twelve years, has always rallied the community into fund raising and has raised over £10,000 for charities over this time.
Ian comments: "I have been very passionate about fund raising over the twelve years that I have been licensee at the Stork Hotel. It is truly an honour to be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support on this fascinating journey through Europe."
To kick off the fund raising for Macmillan Cancer Support, Superfly will be performing live on the 15th of August from 3-6pm in the cobbled courtyard at the Stork Hotel, Whalley Road, Simonstone, Lancashire, BB12 7NZ
