Lancaster Bomber New Listing On Virgin Trains

07/10/2009

Leading Lancashire brewer, Daniel Thwaites, have launched a new listing on Virgin Trains. All train routes will now feature 330ml cans of Lancaster Bomber.

Virgin Trains offer a complimentary drink to first class passengers, where Lancaster Bomber is now the premium ale option. The introduction of the ale onto trains is a new concept to the Daniel Thwaites brewery as they have not produced the 330 ml cans before.

Lancaster Bomber has an ABV of 4.4% and is Chestnut in colour, with a warming full flavoured taste of toffee and biscuit. Its finely balanced hop character is enriched by the late addition of Styrian Goldings to give a prominent floral aroma.

Mark Boardman, National Trade Manager at Daniel Thwaites comments: “We are delighted that Lancaster Bomber will now be featuring on all Virgin Trains. As a Northern Brewer with over 200 years worth of brewing experience and a wide range of award winning ales, the best known being Lancaster Bomber, this new listing felt like a natural fit for us.”

Nic Cuthbertson, Product Development & Purchasing Manager at Virgin Trains comments: “We have been looking to work with Thwaites for several years as the bitter is first class, but have been prevented from doing so due to the size of the can. Now that Lancaster Bomber is available in a 330ml can which best suits the travel sector the decision to change was very easy. The beer is great, well priced, has a regional feel and is brewed by a family owned brewery."
