Daniel Thwaites has hit the boundary by announcing a three year sponsorship deal of Lancashire Cricket League – marked with a signing ceremony attended by Red Rose favourite Gary Keedy.
From next season, the famed local cricket competition will be known as the Thwaites Original Lancashire League – celebrating the partnership of two of the region’s most historic institutions.
With Daniel Thwaites applying its Original cask beer to the league, brewed in exactly the same way since 1807, the tie-up brings together over 200 years brewing expertise and more than a century of competitive local cricket.
As official sponsors of Lancashire County Cricket Club, Daniel Thwaites invited left-arm spinner Gary Keedy – who will be the club’s beneficiary next year – to seal the deal at a signing ceremony at the Higher Trapp Country House Hotel in Simonstone, near Burnley.
Sales and marketing director for Daniel Thwaites, Brian Jenkins, said: “This sponsorship demonstrates our continued investment in local sport and community, from grass roots level right up to first class grade. We were delighted Gary was able to join us to mark the partnership being a great servant of Lancashire and in his beneficiary next year.”
“The sponsorship sees the coming together of two brands – Thwaites Original and Lancashire League – rich in history and synonymous with quality, so the deal makes perfect sense. We wish Lancashire League the best of success for the next three years under our sponsorship as well as into the future.”
The Lancashire Cricket League, formed in 1892, is competitive league of local clubs from mainly East Lancashire and has a long history of drawing international stars to its teams’ ranks for their one professional player slot, including the likes of Shane Warne, Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd and Allan Donald.
The Lancashire League teams are Accrington, Bacup, Burnley, Church, Colne, East Lancs, Enfield, Haslingden, Lowerhouse, Nelson, Ramsbottom, Rawtenstall, Rishton and Todmorden.
Lancashire League chairman, Bert Hanson, said: “I am absolutely delighted that the League has become associated with a company of the stature and standing of Daniel Thwaites, and we look forward to a successful working relationship with our new sponsors.”
The Daniel Thwaites sponsorship for the next three seasons incorporates all three competitions including the League, the Cup and the Twenty 20 contests.
