As the nation prepares to commemorate Remembrance Sunday on November 8, leading Lancashire brewer, Daniel Thwaites, as part of its commitment to support The Royal British Legion and the millions who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces, will again launch its commemorative Liberation beer in tribute.
Daniel Thwaites joined forces with the Royal British Legion back in 2004 and is committed to making a donation for every pint or bottle sold. To-date the amount raised and donated by the brewery and its customers is over £100,000.
Brewed at 4.5% ABV for the pub and 4.8% ABV in bottle, Liberation is amber in colour with toffee and subtle sweet flavours. It has received plaudits for its silky smooth taste and lingering dry bitter finish. Definitely one to Remember.
Celebrated Beer Writer, Roger Protz said: “On the palate this is a creamy textured, luscious beer with a big red fruit flavour, a little sweet suggestion and some malty biscuity character.”
Liberation will arrive for Remembrance Day with a brand new, eye-catching look. Brewing is often described as an art, so the brewery turned to art for inspiration for its new look and found it in the form of a famous Dutchman called Escher who was known for his geometric shapes and designs.
In 1955, Escher produced a new drawing called Liberation which was the transformation of equilateral triangles into birds – a natural link when you think of the bird of remembrance.
Lee Williams, Marketing Manager at Daniel Thwaites said: “Daniel Thwaites are both proud and honoured to be supporting the Royal British Legion for another year and very much hope with the support of our customers that we can add considerably to the £100,000 already raised to-date."
He continues: "We are delighted to unveil our new look and fresh design for Liberation, which now looks to honour our servicemen and women fighting in current wars, whilst also remembering those of the past.“
Michelle Campbell at the Royal British Legion said: “The Royal British Legion safeguards the welfare, interests and memory of those who are serving or who have served in the Armed Forces. We are therefore delighted to be associated with Daniel Thwaites and their Liberation beer.”
