A purveyor of fine wine since 1790, James Pickup has built a reputation over three centuries for quality and service, which was founded on the superb range of fine wines and spirits it started to import during the 19th Century.
As a wine merchant, James Pickup has always been based in Blackburn and was acquired by Daniel Thwaites in 1922, when the brewer was in the middle of expanding its East Lancashire heartland. Thwaites wanted to supply quality wines & spirits along with its beers and offer a complete service to its customers and consumers.
The same ideal still applies today.
