Originally brewed as a seasonal beer for our Bi-centenary in 2007, Wainwright was such a popular guest; it’s now available 12 months of the year in bottle and as a hand pulled beer in pubs and bars!
Wainwright is a great thirst quenching beer and has a wonderful bright, blonde colour in the glass and delicate fruit flavours, which appeals to both men and women alike.
Though best enjoyed in the pub (after a long walk of course), Wainwright can also be enjoyed at home and is available in bottle from Waitrose and EH Booths or you can always order on line here.
The Man Himself
The beer is named after Alfred Wainwright (AW), the renowned Lakeland author who was born in Blackburn in 1907. His seven guide books to the Lakes, which have sold more than two million copies and the recent TV series, have inspired generations of walkers to enjoy the breath-taking beauty of Lakeland and Cumbria, such is their popularity.
To celebrate the success of Wainwright, a limited edition Wainwright paperback is available from Thwaites this summer as part of promotional offers in pubs and supermarkets.
You can also click on the book to read more about Wainwright and to buy his books.
Tasting Notes
Wainwright (4.1% ABV) is a refreshing straw-coloured beer with soft fruit flavours and a hint of sweetness from the fine malt. Utterly drinkable!
