A beer that is as Original today as it was when Daniel Thwaites himself began brewing in 1807 and has been the backbone of the Brewery’s success over two centuries.
Back in the 1800s, the thousands of loomers and weavers enjoyed the beer after their long, arduous shifts in the east-Lancashire mills. The Mill Owners were keen to ensure their workforce were fit again for the next day and so a thirst quenching beer like Thwaites Original, that was relatively light in alcohol, was just what was needed. The workers could satisfy their thirst on a great beer and were still queuing at the Mill Gates the following morning.
Availability
For the perfect taste, try Thwaites Original straight from the hand pull in the pub and watch out for the same beer in can in supermarkets and off licences in the North-west.
Tasting Notes
A clean, polished and refreshing session beer with a glowing amber appearance. Brewed using premium grade Maris Otter malt and traditional English hops, Thwaites Original has a great malt flavour with a superb dry aftertaste.
