Guest Cask Beer

As well as the four permanent hand pulled beers available (Nutty Black, Original, Wainwright and Lancaster Bomber) Thwaites also offer seasonal or guest cask beers from time to time throughout the year.

LiberationLiberation Ale

Usually available in late autumn, Daniel Thwaites has joined forces with the Legion to produce a commemorative beer called Liberation. As part of its commitment to support the Legion and the millions who are serving or have served in the armed Forces, Thwaites makes a donation for every pint or bottle sold. To date the amount raised and donated by Daniel Thwaites and it’s customers is over £65,000.

Tasting Notes

Brewed at 4.5% for pubs and bars, Liberation is amber in colour with toffee and subtle sweet flavours, a silky smooth taste with a lingering dry bitter finish. A Beer to be remembered!

Flying ShuttleFlying Shuttle Pump Clip

At the turn of the 19th Century, the Cotton industry revolutionised the towns of Lancashire and none more so than Blackburn. In recognition of the industry that made Blackburn a major, industrialised town, Thwaites has created Flying Shuttle, a premium ale named after the invention that itself changed cotton making from a labour intensive cottage industry to an efficient, industrial powerhouse.

Tasting Notes

Thwaites Flying Shuttle is now the Official Beer of Lancashire Day, celebrated across the county on November 27th. Watch out for more information on how you can celebrate Lancashire Day with Thwaites and Flying Shuttle (4.6% Cask / 4.9% Bottle) - a dashingly dark coloured beer that has a lightly hopped, fruit aroma with a rich, nutty flavour.

Thoroughbred GoldThoroughbred Pump Clip

A winning Thoroughbred is the result of breeding the best stallion to the best mare, with the proof of superiority and excellence being established on the racetrack. Thoroughbred Gold also has the same winning combination.

Tasting Notes

Derived from the best Maris Otter & Pearl Malts with a blend of Fuggles and Goldings hops Thoroughbred is a golden coloured, dry zesty beer with a pronounced citrus hoppy nose and flavour.

Thoroughbred (4% ABV) is available from the hand pull in the pub and also to take home in bottle.

Good Elf

No surprises for guessing that Good Elf is the Christmas offering from Daniel Thwaites. This sumptuous winter warmer has become a firm favourite amongst Thwaites loyalists and the arrival of this beer on the bar is seen by many as the unofficial start to the Christmas festivities.

Tasting Notes

A mahogany coloured beer with a big, rich overtone of nuttiness balanced with a light fruit flavour and delicate hop aroma.
