Dating back to 1807, Daniel Thwaites remains an independent, family-controlled business operating from its original town centre site in Blackburn, Lancashire
Brewing & Pub Retailing
The principal activities of the Brewery Division are brewing, retailing of beers, wines & spirits and minerals, 
wholesaling, canning and bottling. The Brewery owns and operates over 420 pubs, a mix of tenanted, managed and leased, throughout the North of England, the Midlands and North Wales.
Long-term strategy is to continually invest in its core business of pubs, people and beer brands as well as maintain the balanced approach to its brewery operation at Blackburn. Running at near full capacity in excess of 300,000 barrels per year, Thwaites supply over 1500 on trade businesses, have a growing off trade portfolio and contract brew and package for other brewers and Take home customers.
Hotels
The group’s hotel division, Shire Hotels, operates 7 hotels throughout England.
Recognised by the AA and RAC as one the leading hotel groups in the UK, Shire primarily operates luxury 4 star hotels catering for the weekday, corporate business market and leisure breaks on weekends.
It has developed a reputation for providing friendly service, first class restaurants, comfortable and well-equipped guest rooms with excellent spa facilities.
